Elvis Presley, King of Rock 'n Roll   08-01-1935 / 16-08-1977

Elvis Aaron Presley was born in a simple home with rooms  in Tupelo, Mississippi, on january 8, 1935. His parents were Vernon en Gladys Presley. His baby brother Jesse Garon Presley was unfortunally stillborn. They moved to Memphis, Tenessee in 1948. Elvis graduated from Humes High School in 1953.
The musical influences were determined by pop and country music during that time. Thee gospel style he learned in church. In 1954 he began his singing career with the legendary “Sun Records” in Memphis. This started after recording a record for his mother. Late 1955 he signed a contract with record company “RCA Victor”.
Elvis made 33 movies. He wrote history with his television appearences and live concerts. Unique for that time was also his concert “Aloha from Hawaii”, which was broadcasted by sattelite and was viewed by more than 1 billion people. He also sold more than a billion records and is still the best selling artist. Elvis got more than 150 gold, platinum and multi-platinum awards. Next to these awards he also got  14 Grammy nominations, of which he won 3, at age 36. Despite his status he served the military army of the Unites States of America.
Because of his talent, good looks, sensuality, charisma and good sense of humor, he was and is loved by his millions of fans still today. Elvis is seen as one of the most important influencer of the 20th century. Elvis Aaron Presley died 16th augustus 1977 at his home in Memphis.
